IT Audit Leaders' Roundtable - Audit Risk Related to Third Party Providers
11:45 - 2:00
Bayview Event Center on Lake Minnetonka
Free For IT Audit Leaders

Each year our chapter hosts a series of roundtables for the leaders of IT Audit
functions. This event will begin at 11:30 with lunch and an opportunity to
network. At noon, the group will then discuss audit risk created by third party providers.

Several large companies in the Twin Cities have made significant commitments to outsource part or all of their information technology or business processes to service providers. Even many smaller companies have at least one relationship with an outside service provider, such a payroll processing services firm. The potential risks of this approach are high, given the possibility of business disruptions, confidentiality violations, and technology integration
issues.

Companies have been challenged in the last few years with SAS 70 reports as a means to evaluate risks and controls for outsourced processes. These reports were primarily intended to address financial risks and some people question their success in meeting those needs. Moreover, SAS 70 reports may not be adequate to meet operational or compliance needs.

Information Technology audit professionals often take the lead in identifying and evaluating these risks which are expected to be the majority of our discussion. In addition, we will discuss the role and effectiveness of SAS 70 reports.

Technical Roundtable - Oracle
2:30 - 3:10
Bayview Event Center on Lake Minnetonka
Free For All Members
1.5 CPEs

This discussion will feature Monte Mayer, Oracle GRC Solutions talking about how high-performing organizations thrive on the strongest controls.

Many organizations struggle to find a sustainable way to meet global GRC requirements around financial reporting, data security, records retention, risk management and more. In fact industry analysts AMR Research expect organizations to spend nearly $30 billion this year alone to meet this challenge. Attend this discussion to learn more about how you can lower this cost for your company.

As efforts around Sarbanes-Oxley and other financial compliance programs have shown, regulation is often the primary catalyst for improving an organization’s business environment and processes. The new era of accountability requires the coordination of governance, compliance and risk management activities. In addition, with the convergence of global standards and accelerating corporate performance expectations, companies are facing greater complexity in managing their Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) initiatives.
